 REGIONAL EVALUATION WORKSHOP OF EIACP CENTRES FOR WESTERN ZONE
 
On October 4th, 2023, the EIACP division of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC), Government of India, in collaboration with the EIACP centre of the Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS), organized a one-day Regional Evaluation Workshop of EIACP centres for  western zone in Mumbai, Maharashtra. The workshop's main objective was to evaluate the EIACP Centres' performance in accordance with the MoEF&CC's EIACP scheme guidelines.
 
EIACP Resource Partner on Avian Ecology was established at BNHS in the year 1996. Since its inception the focus of EIACP has been on providing information on avian ecology, conducting various certificate courses under the Green Skill Development Programme (GSDP) etc. 
 
A total of eight EIACP centres from the western zone region (Maharashtra, Gujarat and Rajasthan) participated in the event, including BNHS, Central Arid Zone Research Institute (CAZRI), Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board (RSPCB), Gujarat Cleaner Production Centre (GCPC), Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM), Gujarat Ecology Commission (GEC), Consumer Education and Research Centre (CERC), and National Institute of Occupational Health (NIOH). A total of 28 participants, including ministry officials, experts, and representatives from both thematic and State centres, attended the workshop.
 
Distinguished guests from MoEF&CC, including Ms. Lipika Roy (Deputy Director) and Ms. Sutanuka Sarkar (Assistant Director), were present, along with experts such as Mr. Shovan Saha (Director, Planning and Research, Institution of Hygiene and Environmental Sanitation, New Delhi), Dr. Subramanyam (Scientist D and Joint Director, MoEF&CC), and Dr. Anirban Roy (Research Officer, West Bengal Biodiversity Board). Additionally, Mr. Kishor Rithe (Director), Mr. Anuj Agarwal (Vice President), and Dr. Sujit Narwade (EIACP Project Coordinator and Assistant Director) of BNHS also attended the workshop.
