The desert, which is known as Marusthal in India, is mainly confined to eight districts including  Jaisalmer district of Rajasthan state, India. The Thar Desert is the last refuge of the Rajasthan’s state bird Great Indian Bustard (locally called Godavan) as well as unique desert flora and fauna . BNHS-EIACP has published a book on Wildlife in Thar Desert (थार मरूस्थल के वन्यजीव एक झलक) in Hindi language.  The comprehensive information of 56 species of birds, 11 species of mammals, 13 species of reptiles and 19 species of Plants has been provided which can be easily understandable to school students and local people.
